PYD 80 OCEAN CRUISER

The PYD 80 project is born from the wish of Picco Yacht Design Studio to realize a yacht that is a true sailing yacht. Technological advanced it’s able to contain and to make good use of all innovations applicable in its 24 metres.
Innovations, Technology and styling are present all along a design path that begins with a detailed study right from the start making use of the matured experience and the support of the most advanced software in modelling and prediction of performances.



In the hull can be recognized the typical stylistic and naval architecture components by PYD Studio, harmonized with a distinctive sail plan, simple, rational and with good performance characteristics; from the particular and extremely slender bow, high above the water to guarantee a seaworthy and extremely safe behaviour, just like a fast yacht should be, to the large sail area, upwind as well in downwind, with the big gennaker set on a bowsprit 4.6 metres long.

Outside, the deck develops on a single level like a large terrace above the sea totally free and flat, where there is a elegant superstructure, instead of a real deckhouse to protect the crew and passengers from sea spray, covering lines and rigging, containing the cockpit and the two large sun-bathing areas on the bow and on the stern which are equipped with inflatable cushions that withdraw into dedicated storage lockers in the coamings.

Inside the cockpit can be distinguished two areas: one dedicated to the guests with seats and tables, and a technical zone, where, nearby the double steering position all the primary sail control lines are led and simply managed by four hydraulic winches, whereas the other lines are controlled by hydraulic and electrical systems located in hidden compartments simply accessible from the deck.




Inside, like outside, can be found a perfectly planned symmetry, always a characteristic component of a PYD yacht, simple and essentials in their forms and at the same time special in the use of materials.
Downstairs we pass to the dinette that is made up of two very comfortable sofas able to accommodate 8-10 people, after we arrive, like in a loft just interrupted by the lifting keel structure, to the very well equipped kitchen area, and to the navigation area, equipped with a chart table and instrumentation, where it is possible, by lcd screens, to monitor the full yacht system, to navigate and to manage at the same time the entertainment systems located in the dinette area and inside the single cabins.
In the stern there are the two guests cabins with large bathrooms, while in the forward part of the yacht, over the full width of the beam, and completely isolated we can find the owner cabin with a big bed in the centre and two bathrooms with separated shower.
At the bow, with an entrance that’s independent of the main cabin, we can find the crew cabin; next to this cabin we can find the anchorage system with a foldaway anchor. While at stern the transom, with a hydraulic opening, forms a wonderful little bridge over the sea from which it is possible to haul the tender, with a length 4.5 metres and rigid keel with water-jet propeller, lodged in a dedicated tender garage.
All the rooms are provided with good sunlight and at the same time ventilated by portlights in the hull and hatches on deck. The rooms are also served by the yachts double air-conditioning system that can dehumidify, heat and refresh in every kind of cruise and navigation.
